Winter is cold and clear, with temperatures ranging from mild in lower elevations to sub-freezing in the mountain peaks. Daily highs can exceed 50 degrees in southernmost areas, with average lows between 10 and 30 degrees, so it's best to dress in waterproof layers. Snow falls heavily in certain areas - Brian Head Resort gets more than 360 inches per year - while other locations get only a light dusting of flakes.Winter Travel
The varied winter conditions can make traveling difficult. Road closures are common, especially in higher elevations, and proper snow gear is required for vehicles to pass most areas.
